trigger moments

Fun fact:

My wife and I just finished binge watching a new show called “The Agency.”

It’s about the CIA and the psychological weight agents have to deal with when operating undercover.

If you’re into spy shows, you’ll probably dig it.

Watching the show got me thinking though…

Regular people like you and me have to deal with psychological weight too.

Not from fake IDs and cover stories…

.. but from our unsolved problems.

Whether it’s struggling to lose weight, make money, or find a date…

Our problems have a psychic gravity to them too.

They weigh on us.

So much so that the only way we can function in the world is by stuffing them into the background of our minds.

In fact, we hardly even think about them…

Until specific events recall them to the foreground…

Such as:

- Checking your bank account
- Stepping on the scale
- Trying on an old pair of pants
- Swiping right but getting no matches
- Launching a new offer that flops
- Getting an angry email from a client
- Someone refunding your course
- Etc etc

I call these events “trigger moments”...

Because they instantly shift you into a problem state of mind.

And understanding them is crucial to selling through storytelling.

Your highest converting stories will (almost) always revolve around some kind of trigger moment.

So if you’ve never given this much thought…

Spend some time mapping out your audience’s trigger moments.

AI is great for this.

In fact, I recently published a guest post on Write With AI that reveals some of my favorite customer avatar prompts.

If you’ve purchased the Email Storyselling Crash Course or Email Storyselling MBA…

You can also find these inside the Crash Course.

Anyway, that’s all I got for ya today.

I’m en route back from a very relaxing week on the beach as I write this…

Time to begin the reintegration process lol

Happy Thursday ✌️

P.S:

Next week, I’m publishing the Email Storyselling Playbook on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback format.

There’s a good chance you’ve already got a PDF copy…

But for anyone who grabs a copy on Amazon next week…

I’ll be sending out a special behind-the-scenes breakdown of the ads I’ve used to sell 500+ copies of the book over the last few months.

If you’re looking to grow your list, you won’t wanna miss this ;)

Plus the Kindle version will only be 99 cents.

Stay tuned for more.
