Top 7 copywriters to follow in 2023

Happy Wednesday! I'm Jim Hamilton. Over the past 7 years, my copy has contributed to $10m+ in sales for clients across health, biz opp, and B2B.

Each week, I send out 1 short-form copywriting tip to help you write ads, emails, and social content that sells.

The first step to becoming a skilled copywriter is reading great copy every day.

So today, I’m sharing my top 7 copywriters to follow in 2023.

I’ve put together quick summaries of each one and where you can find them online so you can upgrade the copy you see in your inbox.

Let’s dive in.

Together with Create and Sell

Free email marketing advice for 8k+ creators

How should you segment your audience? Personalize your messaging? And leverage automation to get off the “email hamster wheel”... without getting overwhelmed?

Create and Sell answers these creator questions and more 2x per week.

Founder Brennan Dunn has sold millions of dollars of his own products and services via email over the past 10 years. And now, he wants to send you in-depth guides on how to build an audience that buys, case studies on creators crushing it with email, honest reviews of email marketing tools, and much more.

All for free in just 2 short emails per week.

1) Justin Goff

Justin Goff’s at the top of this list because he’s my favorite copywriter these days.

He’s got deep experience in all aspects of direct response, from offers and funnels to copy and paid traffic…

Plus he’s had two multi-million dollar exits (that I know of).

Today, he’s mostly focused on email copywriting.

His daily email is one I’m always looking forward to. And I buy pretty much everything he puts out.

If you want to see how to run a simple and highly-profitable info business with nothing but email, sign up for his list.

Where to find him:

2) Kyle Milligan

Kyle Milligan is an Agora-trained copywriter who’s generated $50m+ in sales for clients.

He also wrote one of the best copywriting books I’ve ever read called Take Their Money.

His content is more focused on long-form (sales letters and VSLs)...

But you can still learn a ton about how to write compelling copy by reading his emails.

Where to find him:

3) Daniel Throssell

Daniel Throssell writes some of the funniest and most persuasive personality-based emails you can find anywhere on the internet.

Very different from Justin Goff.

His Parallel Welcome Sequence is a clever add-on that I’ve seen copied several times by other writers.

Think bingeable content like Netflix, but for emails.

Anyway, if you’re looking to learn how to write personality-based emails for yourself or for clients, check him out.

Where to find him:

4) Kim Krause-Schwalm

Kim Krause-Schwalm is an A-List copywriter who’s been in the game for 20 years.

She’s written controls for a laundry list of direct response publishers in the health space.

What I enjoy most about being on her list is “What’s in Kim’s Mailbox?”, where she breaks down current promotions and why they work.

Where to find her:

5) Alen Sultanic

Alen Sultanic is a copy and marketing mastermind responsible for one of the most successful book funnels in recent history, Automatic Clients.

He’s got an unmatched understanding of buyer psychology.

I’ve learned a ton from consuming his content and watching what he does.

Where to find him:

NOTE: He does have an email list too, I just couldn’t find the link for it.

6) Alex Cattoni

Copywriting is still a male-dominated industry.

So finding kickass female copywriters to follow can be tough sometimes.

Fortunately, Alex Cattoni is one of the best.

She’s built an amazing business around bridging the gap between traditional direct response copywriting and brand storytelling.

She was even crowned Marketer of the Year by Digital Marketer in 2022, which is no joke.

If you’re looking for another strong female copywriter to follow, check out her website and YouTube channel.

Where to find her:

7) Sam Woods

Sam Woods is one of the most in-demand copywriters in the world in 2023.

Why?

Because he’s spent the last few years discovering how to integrate AI into his copywriting approach. Long before ChatGPT ate the world.

He’s created all kinds of prompt stacks and workflows for research, writing, editing, analysis and more.

That’s it.

See you next week.
