story hunter

Observation:
Most people are stimulus rich, but context poor.
They’re drowning in information, but starved for meaning.
This is one of the reasons why storytelling is such a powerful teaching tool.
It’s a breath of fresh air because it connects the dots.
Instead of hurling more facts and figures at the audience…
And putting the burden on them to make sense of how each one fits in…
Stories show them where the information they already have fits into the bigger picture.
It’s kinda like putting the right lens on a camera…
Where your stories help subscribers bring truth into focus.
Only problem is:
How do you come up with the right stories to tell?
Answer:
Become a Story Hunter.
I was recently introduced to this concept listening to an interview with lion tracker and life coach Boyd Varty.
And while I’ve developed my own system for collecting & deploying stories…
I have to admit:
I freaking love the idea of “story hunting.”
The interview covers a bunch more tactical stuff on how to find & tell great stories…
Plus, Boyd is a world-class storyteller in his own right.
(his story about the guy who had his arm bitten off by a crocodile is hilarious)
Anyway, if you’re looking to uplevel your storytelling skills…
Then I highly recommend you check it out:

P.S:
Another key to using storytelling in your business is understanding analogies and metaphors.
And there may be no better metaphor for life than lion tracking.
Something Boyd reveals in his book:
It’s less than 120 pages, so it’s a quick read, but the content really resonated with me.
And there are some beautiful illustrations.
Could be a nice gift for yourself this holiday season ;)
