simple engagement trick

True story:
I’m writing this email at 30,000 feet on my way to a Caribbean island called St. Maarten.
I’ve never been, but it’s a pretty neat place by all accounts.
The island’s half Dutch and half French…
And both apparently have their own vibes.
I’m headed to the Dutch half because I’m on a boys trip and that’s where all the casinos are 😎
Roulette’s normally my go-to game…
But who knows, maybe I’ll work up the courage to brave the craps tables.
I’m always afraid of looking like an idiot because I don’t know how the game works lol
Fingers crossed the weather allows for some quality beach time too.
Anyhow:
Today’s lesson is one that’s a little “beneath the surface”...
Because it takes a little bit more effort.
But if you can swing it, the juice is almost always worth the squeeze.
What am I talking about?
Using current events from your daily life in your emails.
Now, as I mentioned above…
This takes a bit more effort because it means writing your emails one day at a time…
Instead of batching a bunch to get ahead.
But the payoff is almost always worth it because…
This injects “motion” into your content…
And motion is magnetic.
People are much more likely to pay attention when it feels like you’re in motion.
They get to feel like they’re actually “following along” as your life unfolds in real time…
Instead of reading some crusty old piece that could’ve been written weeks ago.
I refer to this in my book as:
“Letting people peer over your fence.”
Because it taps into the voyeuristic instincts hardwired in all of us.
And makes everything innately more interesting.
Now, obviously there will be times when you want to fully unplug from your business..
In which case, it makes more sense to batch your emails in advance.
But I encourage you to publish fresh off the tap whenever possible…
So you can harness this simple yet powerful engagement trick…
And get readers addicted to reading your daily emails.
Now wish me luck at the tables! 🙏😂
