repeated newsletter embarrassment

There are only a few guarantees in life.
Death and taxes, of course…
But another one comes to mind for anyone looking to build a profitable newsletter…
And it is:
Looking stupid in front of other people.
So if that’s you, I recommend you steel yourself for the coming embarrassment.
Because this doesn’t just apply to testing new topics, offers, funnels, and messaging angles that ultimately flop…
(a form of looking silly most entrepreneurs will applaud)
It also applies to the technical side & general customer experience.
Case in point:
At the end of a promotion last month…
My domain was accidentally flagged as a ‘Dangerous Site’ by Google.
So anyone trying to visit the sales page was met with a red screen of death.
Super.
This meant I had to cut the promotion short and undoubtedly cost me some sales.
Thankfully, I managed to get the flag reversed within 24 hours.
Except it happened AGAIN earlier this week.
So all my customers were temporarily unable to access their purchases.
Some of whom wrote in to let me know.
I was again able to get it reversed, thankfully.
However, you can imagine how frustrating this was lol
(Especially when my shopping cart provider continues to blame me in spite of many other users who seem to be experiencing a similar issue. But I digress.)
Anyway, this led me to double-check a few other things on the tech side…
Which is how I discovered some of my automations were firing incorrectly…
Meaning:
A handful of subscribers got a bunch of emails from me they were not supposed to get.
None of them wrote in to complain…
But for a control freak who does care about appearances, it was yet another moment of embarrassment and frustration.
So, first off - big shout-out to everyone affected by these issues for their patience this week 🙏
Secondly:
Looking silly is par for the course as an online coach, consultant or creator.
It’s virtually impossible to avoid if you’re trying to build something from scratch.
But don’t let that stop you.
It takes what it takes.
And down the road, nobody else is gonna remember the little screw-ups you had along the way.

P.S:
On the bright side, I just put the finishing touches on my new Email Storyselling Playbook this morning…
And I’m thrilled with how it turned out 💪
This is a simplified written version teaching the same core concepts behind my other Email Storyselling and 15-Minute Emails That Sell products.
If you’ve been looking for a way to dip your toe into Email Storyselling, I think you’ll really dig it.
Anyway, the plan is to release it next week.
(barring any more glitches in the system, that is lol)
My assistant is working to format it as we speak.
And you’ll be able to grab a copy for just 3 bucks.
So stay tuned for more :)
