recession-proof

I’m a sucker for real estate reality shows.
Some of my favs are:
- Luxe Listings
- Million Dollar Listing
- The Parisian Agency
- and Owning Manhattan
Anyway, one of the biggest real estate reality TV stars is a guy named Ryan Serhant.
He started out as a goofy and awkward agent on the original Million Dollar Listing New York…
But has since metamorphosed into a seriously badass entrepreneur.
He’s written multiple bestselling books, launched his own real estate brokerage that does over a billion dollars in sales each year, and starred in his own Netflix show, which was a monster hit.
All this to say:
I think he’s extremely sharp.
So I took note when he published an article on LinkedIn a few weeks ago…
Basically predicting that the next economic recession or crash is much closer than most people think.
Now, there’s a running joke about recessions, which is:
“Economists have predicted 9 of the last 3 recessions.”
In other words, there’s always somebody preaching doom and gloom.
You rarely have to look far.
That said, the world feels pretty chaotic right now.
And while I’m no economist, Ryan’s take definitely resonates with me.
(especially as a Canadian, lol)
So… why do I bring this up?
Because recessions aren’t all bad for everyone across the board.
Disruption always brings a plus one to the party, and it’s called Opportunity.
Take the pandemic, for example:
Within weeks of the world shutting down in 2020, many of the course creators and experts I was writing for saw their sales skyrocket as attention shifted online.
And it stayed that way for the next two years.
What’s more:
Those who thrived were the ones who knew how to squeeze the most juice of the assets they already had…
Like their email subscribers and customer lists.
So, if there was ever a time to prioritize getting really damn good at writing story-driven emails that sell…
So you can quickly build “know, like & trust” with your audience…
Create a Category of One even in highly competitive markets like health, wealth, or self-improvement…
And turn your newsletter into a consistent and predictable cash-flowing asset…
I’d say it’s right friggin’ now.
Because regardless of what’s around the corner…
Knowing how to maximize your monetization is gonna be mighty useful.
That’s all I got for ya today, though.
