Rebranding my newsletter for fun & profit (part 2)

Happy Wednesday! Welcome to the final edition of The Copywriting Gig.

I’ll be off next week for the holidays.

Then I’ll be back in January with a new brand name and publishing cadence.

Keep reading to get the skinny on what’s coming in 2024…

Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared why and how I’m rebranding my newsletter in the new year.

In case you’re new or missed any of it…

Here are the links:

Today, I’m finally revealing my new brand name and what it means for my business.

Let’s dive in.

I am thrilled to announce my new brand name is:

Persuasive Alchemy.

Here’s the logo:

(Side note: I used Looka to create it.)

Now let’s drill into how I came up with the name + what it means.

How I Came Up With Persuasive Alchemy

In last week’s edition

One of the potential new directions I shared for the rebrand was emphasizing my unique approach.

In direct response, we refer to this as a “unique mechanism.”

The benefits of unique mechanisms are 3-fold:

1) They create a category of one
2) They make your offer/approach feel new
3) They give hope to skeptical leads & customers

That last one is crucial for conversion.

Because a unique mechanism simultaneously explains…

- Why they’ve failed in the past
- Why they will succeed this time

It’s a potent ingredient, especially when executed well.

Now, as for the name itself…

In ancient times, alchemists were obsessed with turning lead into gold.

Well, today the “gold” I seek is not physical, but digital:

A wildly profitable expert business that is purpose-built around my life.

At a glance, this means:

  • Earning a healthy six-figure income

  • Working 4-6 hours per day

  • Taking 6+ weeks off a year

  • Having less than 3 employees

Ultimately, that’s how I define Persuasive Alchemy:

Turning content & copywriting into a lean and wildly profitable expert business.

My mission is to pursue this with relentless focus…

And share everything I learn along the way so you can do the same.

Once I came up with the name…

I bounced it off a few friends + folks in my audience, and the response was great.

People seem to dig it and so do I.

What This Rebrand Means For My Business

I’m not just putting a fresh coat of paint on.

Here are 3 major changes I’m making as part of the rebrand:

1) Welcome series to indoctrinate new readers

Persuasive Alchemy isn’t just a unique mechanism.

It’s an entirely new business worldview.

So I need a killer welcome series to indoctrinate new readers.

I’ve written a 5-part series (framed as a mini-course) to unpack some of the core concepts behind Persuasive Alchemy…

And calibrate people’s expectations moving forward.

I’m really proud of how it turned out.

(This won’t go out to existing subscribers. But if you’re keen to see what it looks like, click here to raise your hand, and maybe I’ll broadcast it manually if there’s interest.)

2) Mixing content and personality-driven emails

If you followed along with my first product launch earlier this year, then you’ve seen the writing on the wall.

Content-driven emails have yielded great results for me.

But it’s time to incorporate some personality-driven emails too.

They are a key ingredient in the Persuasive Alchemy equation.

I’m excited AF to see how this mix works.

Because both have their upsides.

I think they’ll complement each other quite nicely.

And I know this shift will make my newsletter much more entertaining.

3) Increasing mail cadence to 3x per week

Now that I have a paid option for people who want to go deeper with me…

It’s also time to increase my mailing cadence to 3x per week.

That means you’ll get emails from me on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting in the new year.

(If that ruffles your feathers, no hard feelings. There’s an unsubscribe link at the bottom of this email.)

Putting It All Together

I’m charting a new course in 2024.

And I won’t be writing strictly about copywriting anymore.

Instead, I’ll be writing about content, copywriting, and how to integrate the two so you can create a lean and wildly profitable expert business.

I hope you’ll stick with me.

I’ve got some very exciting things in the works.

All of which will still apply even if you’re a copywriter or ghostwriter who writes for clients.

But if this new direction doesn’t sound like your cuppa tea…

That’s cool too.

We can simply part here as friends :)

That’s it.

Thanks for reading!

See you next year.
