One simple question yields big biz breakthroughs in 2023 (here’s why)

2023 was a year full of milestones for me.
I hit Las Vegas in June for my bachelor party with 11 amazing friends…
My wife and I got married in July…
Then we spent 3 magical weeks together in the Greek islands for our honeymoon.
All in all, it was a year that’ll be tough to top.
But in terms of impact on my business…
Another “first” comes to mind:
2023 was the first year I conducted regular personal reviews.
Now, I’ve journaled once a week for the last 9 years…
So that’s not what I mean.
Instead, the personal review process I developed is much more structured.
It involves answering the same series of questions on a regular basis:
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Annually
One of those questions is:
“What lessons did I learn this week/month/quarter/year?”
It’s brain-dead simple…
But distilling my learnings into concrete lessons and writing them out was a total game-changer.
As with any influential lifestyle shift…
I’m kicking myself for not having done this sooner.
We all love to say “I learned my lesson” in response to challenges, obstacles, or failures…
Yet if I asked you to tell me exactly what that lesson was…
Could you?
I know I couldn’t — at least not before doing personal reviews.
Now I can.
This exercise yielded unprecedented clarity in my business…
Allowed me to ignore all the other shiny objects out there…
(something I’ve struggled with mightily in years past)
And instead stay Tim Ferriss-level focused on my top priorities:
- Growing my social media audience
- Growing my newsletter subscribers
- Launching my 1st product
Now, what’s funny is…
In the middle of doing my annual review…
