newsletter name change (big update)

Big announcement:

I’m rebranding the newsletter.

Here’s the backstory:

I originally launched this as a copywriting newsletter (The Copywriting Gig) in 2023 because copywriting is how I got my start in the world of online business.

But after using organic content to acquire my first 1,000ish subscribers…

I was feeling pulled to explore a new direction:

The intersection of content & copywriting.

It was a topic no one else was talking about…

So I saw it as a way to create a category of one.

And promptly renamed the newsletter to Persuasive Alchemy.

However:

As opposed to a category of one…

“Content & copy” turned out to be a category of none lol

You see, in May, I attempted to launch a paid community helping people using content & copy to get clients.

Interest was strong:

I had over 20 people raise their hand throughout the pre-launch…

Yet only 1 person actually bought during the launch.

Which was far short of my target of enrolling 5 people.

Alas, buried in the ashes of this disappointing failure was the seed of its rebirth.

Because in talking to people who’d raised their hand…

One thing became crystal clear:

“Content & copy” wasn’t something my audience actually wanted.

Instead…

All anyone wanted to hear about was email newsletters.

Fortunately, this is another of my areas of expertise…

Having managed multiple email lists of 100k+ subscribers for clients…

And written 1,000+ newsletters for myself and clients over the years.

So I switched gears…

Began focusing exclusively on email newsletters…

And have been gaining momentum ever since…

To the point where I’m excited to (re)plant my flag in ground I now know is solid.

So, drum roll please…

The newsletter’s new name is:

Newsletter Freedom.

What does this mean, exactly?

Well, there are two dimensions to Newsletter Freedom:

The first is being able to self-fund your own growth.

This means having an acquisition funnel that’s breakeven on Day 1.

Something I’ve recently achieved.

The second dimension is being able to replace the income from your job, whether that’s freelance work or a 9 to 5.

I’m still working on this part.

Once two things are true, you’ve achieved Newsletter Freedom.

And getting you there is my North Star.

I’ve got a lot more exciting stuff in the works for you this year…

But I’ll leave it here for now.

Focus on channeling existing desires.

Not creating new ones.

Identify something people already want.

Then figure out how to give it to them.

Leveraging this undercurrent of interest makes attracting & monetizing subscribers much easier.
