newsletter decathlete

Confession:

I never cared much about the Olympics.

I’ve always been a combat sports fan (boxing, kickboxing, MMA — but NOT power slap, lol)...

But traditional sports simply haven’t interested me much.

… Until last year, that is.

That’s because the Netflix show “Sprint” came out, which I fell in love with immediately.

So 2024 was the first year I followed along.

Mostly with track and field.

And, I’ve gotta say:

While the gold medalists in basically every event are freaking impressive…

What blows me away even more are the decathletes.

These are folks who can run, jump, AND throw at a top 1% level.

It’s honestly insane.

Especially since they don’t get nearly as much attention as athletes competing in individual events like Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, or Mondo Duplantis.

And there’s an interesting parallel here with online business.

Let me explain:

Most of the gurus out there selling you on this or that opportunity tend to emphasize ONE thing above all else:

- Copywriting
- Funnels
- Paid ads
- TikTok
- AI
- Email marketing
- Etc etc etc

You can make a case to include me in there, too.

Increasingly, though…

To succeed online in 2025, you need to become a newsletter decathlete.

That means cultivating competence in multiple areas.

This runs counter to the idea of focusing on your “zone of genius”...

But the truth is…

The age of the “one trick pony” is over.

If ALL you can do is write copy or create content or run ads or send emails, well, you can still (probably) carve out a decent living as a service provider…

However, you’ll struggle to build a lucrative newsletter business.

Why?

Because it prevents you from being able to move FAST.

You’ve either gotta outsource to unreliable contractors or take 2-4X as long to do it yourself.

And as Dan Kennedy says:

Money loves speed.

This is one reason why I’m so bullish on teaching Email Storyselling:

It forces you to cultivate competency in multiple intersecting areas:

- Writing
- Storytelling
- Email marketing
- Angles & positioning
- Product launches
- Creating offers
- And more

In my somewhat-biased-opinion, the “bang for buck” factor is hard to beat.

And if you’re looking to invest in your Email Storyselling skillset…

Then I wager you’ll enjoy my Email Storyselling MBA program.

A word of warning, though:

It’s not for fairweather experts in search of an overnight path to riches.

Because inside you’re getting 6+ hours of deep dive content covering ideation, writing, subject lines…

20+ winning email breakdowns…

Tons of useful AI prompts to amplify the persuasive power of your emails…

And lots more.

As with all things worth doing, you get out what you put in.

So don’t click the link below unless you’re in this for the long run.

But if that’s you, then you’ll be pleased to know you can get started for as little as $97.
