hidden fuel source for your newsletter business

Full disclaimer:
Building a profitable newsletter business is a marathon.
Not a sprint.
And as such, it requires a lot of fuel.
Now, I’m not talking about content, subscribers, or ad spend…
I’m talking about what drives you.
Why you’re even doing it in the first place.
Because connecting to that deeper “why” is crucial for sustaining yourself over the long haul.
It’s a hidden fuel source you’ll be forced to tap into eventually.
For example:
One of my deep emotional drivers is being able to create unforgettable experiences for the important people in my life…
Like my wife, my friends, my parents, my in-laws, etc.
This has deep significance for me.
And over the past few years, I’ve slowly been working to start actualizing it.
Sometimes in more exotic ways..
Like hiring a local photographer during my honeymoon in Greece…
And sometimes in more mundane (but equally satisfying) ways…
Like taking my mom to a Raptors game last week.
These things gas me up.
They fuel my 5 AM mornings and late-night work sessions.
And they’re part of the reason why I’m working so hard to build this business.
Not just to see how many skittles I can stack up.
Anyway, moral of the story is:
Get clear on what drives you before diving headfirst into the weeds.
That’s where all the clean-burning fuel comes from.
Happy Friday ✌️

P.S:
A book I’d recommend on this topic is Die With Zero.
One of my favorite concepts from the book is “memory dividends.”
The idea being:
You don’t just retire on your savings and investments.
You also retire on your memories.
And accumulating as many memory dividends as possible over the course of your life should be a priority for everyone.
Check it out if you’re interested.
