ex-massage therapist reveals painful lesson on making money

I hate seeing a calendar full of calls & meetings.

It makes me anxious.

But it wasn’t always this way.

9 years ago, I used to be a massage therapist.

And back then, a full calendar meant $$$.

(or, at least it was supposed to)

You see, one Friday morning, I set out on my 90-minute commute to the clinic thinking I had a stacked day with appointments from 9 to 5.

Until I got to work.

That’s when the secretary warned me that everyone had canceled…

… Except my first and last clients.

Super.

As an independent contractor…

I was left with two choices:

1) Spend 3 more hours commuting to go home in between
2) Rot at the clinic for 6 (unpaid) hours

In the end, I chose to stick around.

But I was so dejected.

I spent the day moping around the neighborhood and fantasizing about moments like this:

Moments where I had the financial confidence & location freedom to live life on my own terms.

(in this case, taken from my 3-week honeymoon in Greece last year)

So, what’s the moral of the story?

Understand the power dynamics of whatever game you’re playing.

Not all games are created equal.

Some allow you to see a compound return on your investment over time…

While others will never pay out above a 1:1 ratio.

No matter how hard you work.

Or how long you work at it.

Ultimately, days like the one described above are what drove me to freelance copywriting…

And more importantly, building an email newsletter.

Because the odds are stacked in MY favor.

Writing an email takes the same amount of time whether you have 10 subscribers or 10,000.

The input stays the same while the output scales infinitely.

So if you haven’t started yours yet…

Take this as a sign from the universe that the time is now ;)

Especially if you’re looking to attract & sign high-ticket clients in 2024.

Imagine not having to worry about reaching your leads the next time Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn suddenly goes down…

(like they all did this week)
