4 things to make you a better writer

Happy Wednesday! Welcome back to Persuasive Alchemy.

I’m Jim Hamilton. My writing has contributed to $30,000,000+ in client sales across health, biz opp, and B2B

Today marks the beginning of a new experiment I’m calling:

“Write Better Wednesdays”

Instead of my usual fare…

I’m sharing 4 things to make you a better writer:

- 1 piece of copy to swipe
- 1 piece of content to read
- 1 prompt to write
- 1 quote to ponder

You can share your feedback using the poll at the bottom.

Let’s dive in.

1) Copy to swipe:

I pay close attention to what these guys do because they run a ton of paid traffic.

For instance, using the SimilarWeb Chrome extension, I can see their Facebook-specific webinar registration page got 383,000 visits last month alone. At $1 per click, that’s $383k in ad spend. And they’re likely paying more than $1 per click.

So when I saw they were testing a new front-end offer, I added it to my swipe file right away.

Free challenges make for awesome lead gen funnels too.

2) Content to read:

Andre Chaperon is one of the writers I look up to the most.

He’s a master of creating educational pre-sell content.

I love the way he folds in other people’s ideas along with his own experiences to create paradigm shifts. And this article is a great example of it.

3) Prompt to write:

“Where do I disagree with mainstream wisdom?”

Controversial opinions are one of the most reliable ways to get attention in ads, emails, and social media content.

Use this prompt to identify yours.

4) Quote to ponder:

“If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.”
— Reid Hoffman

Putting out something new is scary.

Watching people pass judgment on something you’ve created can feel like walking into a room full of people with no clothes on.

But perfectionism is the enemy of progress.

Treat every new offer and piece of writing you put out as a chance to train your “good enough” muscle.

Prioritize going live over chasing perfection.

That’s it.

Thanks for reading!

See you next time.
