3 random observations on life & business after not eating for 72 hours

I just finished a 72-hour fast.

If my stomach had a facial expression, this would be it lol

Going hungry gave me lots of time to think…

So here’s 3 random observations on life & business from not eating for 3 days:

1) Extremity expands capacity

This is an Ed Mylett quote that came to mind during the fast.

Pushing your limits expands how much you can do…

And makes stuff that used to be hard much easier.

Just like going to the gym or writing every day.

2) Identities drive actions

I listen to 10+ hours of podcasts per week.

Many of which are about how to optimize your health & fitness.

Because of this, I want to be seen as someone who does things like 72-hour fasts.

It’s part of what keeps me going.

I want my actions to be consistent with that identity.

Appealing to the identity your clients & customers want is a powerful way to motivate them.

3) There’s no substitute for wanting something badly

I’ve wanted to do longer fasts on a regular basis for years…

But 2023 was the first time I actually stuck to it.

It took time.

Multiple failed attempts.

Eventually I got to the point where I wanted it badly enough to make it happen.

Same thing goes for any big goal in life or business.

Tips, hacks, secrets & shortcuts are all lovely…

But in the end, what matters most is your desire to see it through.

No one is coming to do the hard work for you.
